There are a lot of things to learn about a city in order to live there successfully.  Sometimes it takes years to find out some of the "secrets" and tricks to living a good life.  I share tips in every issue of my free weekly email newsletter

If you know some good tips, please send them to me via email. I hope you find something useful to you here and feel more at home in Huntsville.

Tips for Week of November 25, 2004

THINGS I LEARNED THIS WEEK:

  • The "new" Sam's Club scheduled to open next year on South Parkway between Lowe's & Home Depot isn't actually a "new" Sam's Club for the Huntsville area. They are just moving the North Parkway Sam's to South Parkway.

  • Apply or nominate someone to win a complete makeover in the Tennessee Valley, in the style of "The Swan" TV show. It's called Mission: Makeover. The person to receive the makeover will be chosen by the end of this year. Charitable donations of the sponsors will benefit the Community Free Clinic of Decatur-Morgan County . Then more money for the clinic will be raised at the big reveal party for the winner in April 2005.

  • Adult student scholarship applications are now available for the University of Alabama Outreach program and must be completed and returned no later than December 15, 2004. At UA, students can take courses or earn bachelor's, master's or doctoral degrees - anytime, anywhere.

  • Get a free wake-up call from Target on Friday morning so you don't miss the biggest sale of the year.

  • If you have men to shop for on your Christmas list, you might want to sign up for The Home Depot daily email list which tells you about their one-day only sales from Dec. 2-14.

  • The Defense Department has launched a new program to showcase America's support for the men and women of the armed forces and the myriad ways the country is expressing that support.
