There are a lot of things to learn about a city in order to live there
successfully. Sometimes it takes years to find out some of the
"secrets" and tricks to living a good life. I share tips in
every issue of my free weekly
email newsletter.
If you know some good tips,
please send them to me via email. I
hope you find something useful to you here and feel more at home in Huntsville.
Tips for Week of December 2,
2004
THINGS I LEARNED THIS WEEK:
-
CBS
news reported on one of the fastest growing scams today: Keep a watch
out for people standing near you in the checkout line at retail stores,
restaurants, grocery stores, etc who have a camera cell phone in
hand. With the camera cell phones, they can take a picture of your credit
card, which gives them your name, number, and expiration date.
-
In
Alabama, close to 100 Christmas Tree farms sell an average of 800
trees per year.
-
There's
a new coffee/espresso shop in town: Aroma's Coffee in the Target
shopping center on University Drive. It has free wireless internet (WiFi)
and a really nice set up of tables and comfortable chairs.
-
What's
on sale at the retail stores? Go to Sales
Circular.com , a site that lists by state the current week's sales
on electronics, home appliances, computer hardware and software at Best Buy,
Circuit City, CompUSA, Kmart, Office Depot, Office Max, Radio Shack, Sears,
Staples, Target, Wal-Mart and select local retailers.
-
Send
a greeting via e-mail to servicemen through Operation
Dear Abby. This is a private and secure online resource that will
allow you to send a Sailor, Marine, Soldier, Airman, or Coast Guardsman a
holiday greeting or message of support.
