So you didn't get an invitation to the 54th Presidential Inauguration to be held Saturday, January 20, 2001?  Don't feel bad; I didn't either.  But one Huntsville man, Ronald L. Barnes, who was named Alabama Republican of the Year by the National Republican Congressional Committee, received this invitation a few days ago via Priority Mail:

The gold invitation arrived along with a 75-page Official Guide Book containing a welcome, quotes from the new President and Vice-President, biographies on the two men and their wives, a list of US Senate Leadership, US House of Representatives Leadership, US Governors, a history of all the Inaugurations, a calendar of public events, participants in the parade, security information, important phone numbers, and Inauguration Commemorate Info.  Ron, and his wife, Gerry, also received an invitation to Alabama's Senator Jeff Sessions Open House.

The Inaugural Parade will last a little over one hour and have over 10,000 participants.  Alabama will be represented by the Homewood High School Patriot Band from Homewood, Alabama and by the Virginia/Indiana/Massachusetts/Alabama combined Law Enforcement Unit with horses.

Ron and Gerry Barnes will be leaving for the Inauguration this weekend.  Ron is the owner, President, and founder of Prozone International Inc., a company that manufactures ozone generators.  Ron's business is worldwide and manufactures devices for a variety of products from spas and contact lenses  to water processing for third world countries.

Most of Ron Barnes involvement with the political scene has been through business.  He's been asked by the National Republican Committee to answer questionnaires and polls on policies.  Ron's experience with the government includes being hired as a consultant to investigate the Shuttle Disaster.  He also was on the Apollo 13 Crisis Committee and was principal engineer on the Space Station.

Ron has degrees in electrical engineering and physics.  He holds many patents including one for the Huntsville Police's new LIDAR (radar) device and one for the CD-R writer found in many computers.

Even though most of us won't be in Washington to see the new President sworn in, we will have an outstanding representative in Ronald L. Barnes.
