What would make a normal, healthy, happy 51 year old widow do something as drastic as looking on the internet for romance?  Dating has really changed in the last few years and meeting people online isn't so uncommon any more.  And it's not just for the younger folks, either.  People over 30 are turning to the internet to find each other.

Meet BJ, a single woman, who recently started thinking about dating after being happily married for 25 years.  She'd received a new computer from her son for Christmas.  It was only a matter of time until she used it to find others in a similar situation.

BJ tried the usual things.  She says that everyone at her church is over "100 years old."  She'd tried other church groups, grief support groups, singles dances and blind dates.  All these conventional methods of meeting people had lead to disasters, disappointments, and dead ends.  Since she doesn't go to bars and she works a lot, she felt her choices were limited.   One day, BJ's son composed a personal for her to post on the internet.   And the rest, as they say, is history.

In her personal ad, BJ stated that she was seeking someone with a good heart, who was kind, and "tall."  She also revealed that she was interested in romance and possibly a long term relationship that would lead to marriage.  Getting right to the heart of the matter, she stated that she was a "princess having had sufficient experience with princes, seeks frog."  Showing her sense of humor and personality in her personal has resulted in over 2,000 responses in the last year.

BJ also posted 2 pictures of herself on her homepage.  Before the pictures came on the screen, she started receiving responses.  She has heard from men all over the world including India and Russia.  They came from all walks of life--doctors, lawyers, authors, state troopers, etc.  A year later, she still receives 25-30 emails a day from men ranging in age from 21 to 69 years old.
