| Festival of Flowers at the Gardens | |

The
Huntsville Botanical Gardens has planted thousands of tulips this year to add to
the color and wonder of an Alabama spring. In preparation for the first
annual Festival of Flowers to be held March 31 through April 29, 2001, the
Garden has arranged special events and guest speakers. A complete schedule
for the Festival of Flowers

Special
events include an Easter brunch, concerts, spring plant sale, afternoon tea at
the Gardens, a bonsai show, and a photographic contest. Workshops during
the
month long festival include: tree care, growing and arranging orchids,
creating a backyard habitat for songbirds, water to attract wildlife, frogs and
turtles, and flower
arranging.
Workshops by notated authors include:
- Saturday, March 31--Felder Rushing, author of Garden Design and Fine Gardening. Felder will speak on "Passalong Plants" and "Getting Away with a Wild Garden in an Urban Setting."
- Sunday, April 22--Jim Wilson, author of Landscaping with Wildflowers and Landscaping with Herbs and co-host of "Victory Garden South" will talk about his new book on Container Gardening.
Tickets
to these events are available at First Commercial Bank, Lawren's, Publix, and
Parisians. The Huntsville Botanical Gardens is located at 4747 Bob Wallace
