| The Making of a Comcast Cooking Show | |
|
A lot of preparation goes into the making of a half-hour cooking show for Comcast Cable TV. Gerry Barnes started preparing weeks in advance to present a scrumptious table with lots of goodies for the show.
This
year's theme was roses. The camera crew arrived an hour before shooting to
get all the electric cords, microphones, and camera set up. A few minutes
before the taping, the producer Sharon Grilliot and host Nancy Cloud showed up. And four
hours later, we had the half hour show recorded and taped, ready for editing!

Gerry
and Ron Barnes' Hampton Cove home was the perfect setting for the cooking
show. The dining room table displayed some of the things that would be
made during the cooking portion of the show.

At first I didn't
see any chocolate on the table. Not to worry, there was a cake hiding
behind the flowers that had shaved white chocolate frosting making it look like
a coconut cake. Gerry topped it off with decorative roses.

The
Burritt Museum Guild is known for its famous fruited ice ring. Several of
these ice rings will be sporting the tables at the Silver Tea again this year.

Gerry had this creation in her
entryway. She calls it "Fire & Ice" because it features
frozen columns of ice with roses inside and small votive candles.
Beverages are served in glasses coated with lemon juice and dunked in colored
sugar.

The Cooking Show can be seen from June 15-25 on Channel 3 on Comcast Cable TV. You can get a personal invitation to the Burritt Museum Guild's Silver Tea by calling the museum at 256-536-2882. The Trillium Garden tea will be Monday, June 25th from 1-4 p.m.
