Huntsville Botanical Garden

On June 21 & 22, 2003 from 1-6 pm, the Huntsville Botanical Garden will feature a fundraiser designed to thrill local garden enthusiasts.  Three private town gardens in South Huntsville and three private country gardens in Hazel Green will be open to the public.  I've previewed the gardens for you, but I urge everyone to get out on Saturday and Sunday and explore for themselves.  Even though a picture is worth a thousand words.....these pictures really don't do these gardens justice--you really need to see them for yourself!

Jack and Libby Loose, 7815 Haven Street, Huntsville

Jack and Libby Loose's garden features over 212 varieties of roses on their two adjoining lots.  This welcoming English-style cottage garden has a profusion of pink and peach flowers tumbling over an arbor that beckons you to come in.  Mature trees provide an airy mix of sun and shade over sweeping lawns, mysterious paths, a swing, a gazebo and a magnificent collection of roses in a rainbow of colors.  Even the potting area is a work of art, with lovingly painted colorful murals, a children's garden and tea area.  Sit awhile in the generous gazebo and listen as the fountain bubbles joyously in a shady glade filled with garden fairies.  This garden is a feast to the senses.
