In 1959, Mr. Benton H. Wilcoxon brought ice skating to Huntsville. Many young dedicated skaters have made a reputation for Huntsville in ice sports.

Today ice skating and hockey are performed in the ice complex named after Mr. Wilcoxon.

The Benton H. Wilcoxon Municipal Ice Complex is located on Leeman Ferry Road, behind Joe Davis Stadium.

Many skaters started out attending a public skating session and fell in love with ice skating.

The Huntsville Figure Skating Club along with The Huntsville Skating School present annual Christmas and Spring Shows.

Ice skating is not easy; it requires a lot of practice. Ice skating isn't cheap--students need to take lessons, pay for practice time, costumes, competitions, travel, and coaches.

The Huntsville Skating School offers skating classes for ages 4 through adult. The classes teach all the basics of ice-skating, including the proper way to fall and stand up, forward and backward skating, cross overs, jumping, spinning, gliding moves, posture, and style on the ice.
