In this time of national turmoil, we can all use a good laugh. Theatre Huntsville's first play of the season, Lie, Cheat, and Genuflect, offers its audience a chance to enjoy two hours of fantasy.
Note to non-Catholics: Genuflect is the bow made after Catholics cross themselves.
Lie, Cheat, and Genuflect, written by William Van Zandt and Jane Milmore, is the tale of two Laurel-and-Hardy-type brothers, expertly portrayed by Gabriel Jaime and Dave McCann.
The Buckle brothers, lowly gas station attendants (or as they claim "in the oil business"), are desperate to get their hands on their late grandfather's money to pay off a loan shark--Pizza Face Petrillo played by Lee Deal.

Tom and Billy Buckle break into their estranged grandfather's apartment to scheme the day before the will is to be read. What happens next is lighthearted fun and fast-paced action, sometimes bending any resemblance of reality, but always focused on the brothers' goal.

You can't help but fall in love with poor dimwitted, naive Billy Buckle, who is the victim of his not too master-minded brother Tom.

The hard-drinking, man-hungry housekeeper is delightfully depicted by Criss Slaughter, whose exits and entrances add zing to the show.
