"Terra Nova" is a chilling drama presented by Theatre Huntsville.  The play was written by Ted Tally, author of such hits as "Silence of the Lamb," "Hannibal," "All The Pretty Horses," "The Red Planet," and "Mission to Mars."  Lori Gill directs the Huntsville production Tally's tale of a daring expedition.

"Terra Nova" chronicles the struggles and despair of a team of five men who risked everything for the honor of being the first to reach the South Pole.  Only problem is, they were the second team to reach the South Pole.

On the 1500 mile trip back by foot, they almost reach home.  However, one by one, the men, weak, cold and hungry, meet their death.

Scott tells his men at one point, "I'm sorry we didn't make it there first, but I'm not sorry for the way we tried."

The story of "Terra Nova" was taken from journals found on the frozen body of Captain Robert Falcon Scott.

The play blends scenes of the explorer and his men at various stages of the ordeal with flashbacks of Scott and his young wife.
