Guide Review
"Stream of Death" Flows with Mystery and Intrigue
This first novel by Bill Stackhouse, a local author, flashes back to Sicily during World War II.  I mistakenly thought this was the main story.  However, this was just a short chapter to reveal some background information that is tied up neatly in the end.

The bulk of the story takes place in a small town in New York, where fishing is a serious hobby. This Mayberry-like town is peopled with local residents with secrets and idiosyncrasies.

A young boy and his dog set the town on end with they find a 25-carat diamond in the woods.  A killing ensues.  The police round up a variety of suspects, including a mob family.  With surprising twists and turns, this mystery keeps you jumping from one conclusion to the other.
