Chase Depot

Chase Depot

The Chase Depot was built by the Chase family, who were in the nursery business. It served the Southern Railway and the Nashville, Chattanooga and St. Louis Railway. This is the smallest union railway station in the country. Hugh Dudley explained to me that "union railway station" means that it served two or more separate railroad tracks. This depot sits in the middle between the two tracks. The original depot was built in 1908. It has served as a post office and other uses, but has been restored to its original configuration and houses artifacts and displays.
