Several of my buddies from the Experimental Aircraft Association have given me private plane rides...so I was familiar with that kind of an experience. Once we were airborne, and I had been relieved of my duty with the tow rope, I sat back and relaxed. The view was spectacular! And, it was so
quiet. It was really a heavenly experience. My only complaint was that the air conditioner wasn't working. Rand informed me that there
was no air-conditioning. Oh well, air-conditioning or not, it was a freeing experience...we were soaring like a bird!
Soaring is more complicated than flying a private aircraft (sorry, guys!) because you have to know all that scientific stuff about wind velocity and aerodynamics, etc. in order to glide long distances. However, young people can take lessons and get their license at age 14.
