Lifetree is built on the premise of a coffee-house because conversations happen so much easier in that environment. From soothing, earthly paint colors on the walls to lots of greenery around the room, to small tables with comfortable chairs, it’s a very relaxed environment. Lifetree lasts for one hour but guests are welcome to stay as long after the program ends as they would like to fellowship or to continue their conversations.
Lifetree offers a variety of topics that are relevant to a large part of the population. For instance, upcoming topics range from “Torture” and whether it’s necessary or barbaric to “Schindler’s Youngest Survivor Speaks.” Also on tap is “Amazing Grace,” a story of how the Amish people reached out and forgave the shooter of their children. Another topic, “Is the Devil Real?” is sure to raise some questions.
Recently, after a session titled “My Son Is Gay,” one of the younger members of the gay community who attended stated that he had actually given up on church because he had never felt welcome there. This was the first time, he said, that he actually felt accepted for who he was with no judgement on his lifestyle.
Another lady expressed how interesting it was to sit with different people every week to hear different points of view. She found it a very unique way to “worship.” The latest session, “To Heaven and Back” brought us our largest attendance. Based on the book “Heaven Is For Real,” many people had questions about loved ones that had passed, where might they themselves be going and what would it be like?
Meaningful conversations about relevant topics and how those topics relate to your faith. That’s what Lifetree is all about. Your story. My story. It’s all about our stories and sharing them with others. And, hopefully, someone will find their way to a deeper faith through the stories that are told.
