A few examples from the A.G. Edwards exhibit illustrate the scope of the collection. One gelatin silver print, titled Agave Design 2, 1920 by Imogen Cunningham, demonstrates the artist's interest in botany and the exploration of nature through photography. A photograph by Berenice Abbott titled Wall Street, New York, 1936 depicts the famous facade of the New York Stock Exchange, a fitting piece for a brokerage firm to have in its art collection. And bringing us to the end of the century, a print named "Bilbao" by Helen Frankenthaler gives us a glimpse of the work of this artist who, in the 1950s, emerged in the second wave of Abstract Expressionists. The museum is located at 217 East Tuscaloosa Street in Florence and open to the public Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The show remains on display through December 30, 2005.
On November 13th Kennedy-Douglas Center for the Arts will also host an Advent Open House. Get in the holiday spirit with displays of Advent wreaths and special Christmas items. The Gift Shop will also be open.
