Second Avenue's Shops ... Country Hall of Fame and Museum ... Belmont Mansion

In the city's historic downtown area, a fleet of vintage trolleys provides transportation to Second Avenue's shops and clubs and such sites as the Ryman Auditorium, sometimes referred to as the Mother Church of Country Music. Home of the Grand Old Opry from 1943 through 1974, this landmark building reopened its doors in 1994 and offers daytime tours and evening performances from concerts to touring Broadway shows. During a day tour, visitors might catch a guest artist rehearsing for an upcoming show.

While nearby, consider touring the Country Hall of Fame and Museum. Country music lovers will want to take in Studio B on Music Row and also the Musicians Hall of Fame, which just opened in 2006.

‘Tis the season, so you’ll see many of the city’s landmarks all decked out in holiday finery. History buffs won’t want to miss Travellers Rest, Belle Meade Plantation, and Belmont Mansion, each with a wealth of intriguing stories. Take a Holiday Hike at Cheekwood, home to 55 acres of botanical gardens, a sculpture trail, and art museum. Another treat here, "Festival of the holidays" features decorations, Christmas trees, seasonal gifts, and multicultural exhibits. For information on these and other Nashville attractions, check out www.musiccity.com and request a Music City Total Access Attraction pass, which admits you to your four city favorites for only $45.
