The Faire Ties in With School...

The original Renaissance Faire organizers chose to hold it during the month of October because they wanted the event to tie in with school curriculum. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to really explore another time and place.

The main event is of course the Alabama Renaissance Faire, which always takes place on the 4th Saturday and Sunday in October. This year's Faire will take place on October 22-23, 2005 and be held in Wilson Park, renamed "Fountain on the Green" for the two-day event. This square block in downtown Florence is transformed to a medieval village and inhabited by 30,000 - 40,000 lords, ladies, dueling knights, damsels, wizards, monks, trolls and peasants.
