In ancient Arabian culture, most dogs were considered unclean and were avoided. Not so the Greyhound. Highly admired for their physical attributes and speed, the Greyhound was the only dog permitted to share their owners tents and ride atop their camels. The birth of a Greyhound ranked second in importance only to the birth of a son. They shared a similar stature in Persia, Rome and Greece. The Greyhound is the only breed of dog mentioned in the Bible (Proverbs 30:29-31).
