Information on The Ark...

"In 1990 when I decided to build a no kill animal shelter. I made the decision I would not house more animals than the Ark could humanely care for."

The Ark has no paid employees and operates daily on donations. The Ark receives no city, state, county, or federal funding. However, it does apply for and, at times, receives grants.

The Ark has several programs in effect that no other animal shelter has:

  • The Ark has an Agreement of Understanding with Hope Place to care for and house the pets of domestic violence victims.
  • The Ark works with the local American Red Cross to take a DART (Disaster Animal Relief Team) into tornado areas and help displaced or injured animals.
  • The Ark has a Humane Education program.
  • The Ark has Pet Therapy program.
  • The Ark has volunteers take animals into schools and nursing homes.
  • The Ark is allowed by a City Council resolution to take any animal from our local city animal shelter before the animal is put to death.
