The festival, to be held in Big Spring International Park in downtown Huntsville on Friday, September 23rdthrough Sunday, September 25th, will feature more than 80 musical acts with other announced artists forthcoming.
The opening night of the festival will showcase a strong lineup of current alternative rock bands, including Alter Bridge, Theory Of A Dead Man and Shinedown. Other confirmed country artists are Terri Clark, classic balladeer Don Williams, singer-songwriter Billy Dean and country rockers the Charlie Daniels Band. The Jam's classic pop lineup features the Herman's Hermits with Peter Noone. The contemporary Christian music stage continues to attract heavy hitters, including Jars Of Clay, Third Day and Thousand Foot Crutch along with the more pop-influenced Matthew West.
This year's site plan for the festival benefits from completed road and bridge construction related to a new downtown hotel. Last year, the smaller space contributed to some minor problems with pedestrian traffic. "We're thrilled with this year's layout for the Jam," says Chairman John McMullan of the Big Spring Jam Foundation, the non-profit organization that sponsors the festival. "The new orientation of downtown has allowed us to be very creative in how we position the stages and vending areas and attendees should be able to move between them much more efficiently this year."
Three-Day Passes for the Jam will be $35 in advance and will increase to $40 on Friday, September 23rd. Individual Day Passes can be purchased in advance for $17.50 each at the Von Braun Center Box Office (The VBC Box Office is open Monday - Friday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. or charge tickets by phone, call 1-800-277-1700) and through Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com. Individual Day Passes can also be purchased at the gate for $20 each and must be purchased on the day of attendance. There are a variety of corporate ticket outlets to be announced and the Jam encourages other companies throughout North Alabama and Southern Tennessee to support the event by becoming an outlet.
Once again this year, realized proceeds from the Jam will benefit local non-profit organizations to be announced prior to this year's event. Hundreds of volunteers run the event each year with recruiting and support provided by the Volunteer Center of Madison County.
