Big Spring Jam's Safety & Security Measures

Can I come and go freely from the Jam?
You must have your hand stamped in order to re-enter the Jam site on the same day. If you purchase a single day pass, it is good for One Day Only.

PARKING AND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

Where can I park?
The Huntsville Department of Parking and Public Transit will open a number of parking lots in the downtown area during the festival. Log on to festival website to print out a parking map with available locations, including additional handicapped parking.

Parking will be available at many businesses located within walking distance of the Jam for a nominal fee. Jam attendees may also park at the Heart of Huntsville Mall. Other available parking areas include:
  • Garage "A" Municipal Garage - entrance on Gates Avenue
  • Garage "B" Colonial Garage - entrance on Fountain Circle
  • Garage "M" VBC Garage - entrance on Church Street
  • Garage "O" Central City Garage - entrance on Clinton Avenue
  • ADA parking will be available. Designated ADA parking will be at the Mental Health Center, Huntsville Utilities and Goodrum and Knowles.
  • Huntsville Hospital is also allowing Jam attendees to use its new parking garage on St. Clair Avenue. Shuttle service will be available for $4.

Is public transportation provided to the Jam?
Shuttle service will be provided from a variety of different locations in an around the Jam. Look for directional signage.

SAFETY, SECURITY AND RESTRICTIONS

What security precautions are taken for the Jam?
The Big Spring Jam has been a safe and secure event for many years. The Huntsville Police Department and the Von Braun Center both have excellent track records and have always worked well together to ensure the safety of Jam attendees and participants. Please keep the following in mind when heading out to the Jam:
  • If you come in with a purse, backpack or camera bag - the bag will be inspected.
  • If you are wearing any type of bulky clothing - you will be asked to be patted down.
  • If you are carrying a portable chair in a bag - the bag will be inspected.

We appreciate your cooperation and are sure that you realize we are conducting these measures for one reason - to maximize safety to assure everyone has a good time at the Jam.

What do you restrict me from taking to the Jam?

No:
§ Coolers or food products
§ Skateboards, bicycles and roller skates/blades
§ Pets with the exception of guide dogs, hearing dogs and service dogs.
§ Cameras, sound recording or video recording devices
§ Umbrellas, so as not to obstruct the view of other Jam attendees.

MAPS, DIRECTIONS AND LOGISTICS

How do I get to Big Spring Jam?
From I-65 (North or South) take Exit 340 to Huntsville I-565 headed East. Travel approximately 19 miles to exit 19A South Memorial Parkway (231 South). As you merge into Memorial Parkway take the first exit, Clinton Street. Loop around to the red light, and turn right on to Clinton Street.
Entering Huntsville from 72 West (from Scottsboro), take exit 19-A to Jefferson Street after 72 West merges into I-565. Follow Jefferson Street to the first red light at Monroe Street, and turn right.
From Guntersville, 431 West will become Governors Drive. Follow Governors Drive across California Street and past Huntsville Hospital on your right. Turn right at the traffic light onto Monroe Street.
