What's all the construction going on around the site of the Jam and what effect will it have on the festival?
The city of Huntsville is getting an exciting new downtown hotel next to the Von Braun Center. This will provide a significant boost for tourism and economic development in our community, including providing additional lodging for future Jam attendees!
Planners of the Big Spring Jam have done their best to maximize the use of space in and around Big Spring International Park as this construction continues.
Where are the restrooms?
Portable restrooms will be located throughout the Jam site as they have been in the past. Also, public restrooms will be available for use in the VBC. Available restrooms include those located in the main hallway of the VBC near the Box Office.
FAMILY-FRIENDLY ENTERTAINMENT
What do you offer for families?
Children are welcome at the Jam as it is a family event to be enjoyed by all. Children nine and under will be admitted free with a paying adult.
What can I expect on the children's stage?
The Jam always provides great entertainment for kids and families. This year "little Jammers" can see Rick Hubbard "The Kazoo King," Shana Banana and more.
Please note that there will be NO hay bales for seating at the Children's Stage this year, so plan to bring chairs and strollers for the family.
What's the Kids' Area?
The Kids' Area involves two major elements: the Boeing Children's
Craft Area and the Fun Zone.
The Boeing Children's Craft Area features several free activities including a different craft each day (tote bags on Saturday and construction hats on Sunday), temporary tattoos, and child identification cards by Huntsville Police Department. The Boeing Children's Craft Area will be held on the lower level of the Monroe Street Parking Garage right next to the Star 99/Corr Wireless stage.
The Jam also offers a Fun Zone with ticketed rides, including
obstacle courses, a bungee run, bull riding, jousting, a pirate ship, slides, inflatable boxing, sumo wrestling, hair wraps, and MORE! The Big Spring Jam Fun Zone offers attractions for kids of all ages.
Tickets for these rides can be purchased at the Fun Zone entrance. Most attractions take 1-2 tickets, which cost $2 each, others may take more. The Fun Zone will be located on top of the Monroe Street Parking Garage across from the VBC.
The Fun Zone hours:
-
Friday 5:30 pm – 10 pm
-
Saturday 1:30 pm – 10:00 pm
- Sunday 1:30 pm – 8 pm
Bungee jumps will stay open throughout Jam hours.
What is the Jam 5k Run?
