Redstone Arsenal's 2004 OktoberfestMWR at Redstone Arsenal
Redstone Arsenal's 9th annual Oktoberfest is the premier cultural festival of North Alabama and is one of the only two "open to the public" events held on Redstone Arsenal each year. Each year, nearly 20,000 people attend this 4-day event, making it the "The Best 'Fest West of Munich."

Oktoberfest was started nine years ago by the MWR at Redstone Arsenal to support the large population of Germans in Huntsville, both in the military and retired military. The custom in Germany is for the Oktoberfest to start in September and run through October. So don't get confuse or miss out at the Oktoberfest in Huntsville that starts in September...go figure.

Oktoberfest is open with rides, fun and activities for all ages. The admission price includes a carnival midway with both child and adult rides, live entertainment with an annual Oktoberfest favorite--Terry Cavanaugh and the Alpine Express. Arts & Crafts vendors will be on hand for an Arts & Crafts Fair, as well as a Kids Area, Volleyball, Face Painting, and Military Static Displays on Saturday. Once again, there is no separate fee for rides or parking; the one-time entrance fee covers all of your fun.

Unlike some events, Oktobertfest offers free carnival rides, great entertainment, and free parking. All of profits from the 'Fest go to support soldiers and their families on Redstone Arsenal.

Redstone Arsenal's 9th Annual Oktoberfest will be held September 16 through 19, 2004 at the Redstone Arsenal Activity Field. Tickets are purchased at the gate. Admission price--Thursday: $8, and Friday through Sunday: $10.

Don't forget to get your Oktoberfest admission coupons out of the Huntsville Times.
