September 24, 2005, the residents of Florence will be honored to welcome super-star real estate developer Donald J. Trump to the Shoals. Mr. Trump is coming to the Shoals to speak at a fundraiser for the Florence Library Foundation. He will arrive at the Northwest Alabama Regional Airport the day of the fundraiser. After a private reception, he will proceed to the main event, "An Evening with Donald Trump," to be held at the four-star Marriott Shoals Hotel & Spa Conference Center. The evening will begin with a cocktail party, followed by dinner and Mr. Trump's remarks.
Although Mr. Trump is aware of the Shoals area because of our Robert Trent Jones golf courses it was an invitation from local businessman Joel Anderson, who is one of the founders of the Books-A-Million chain that actually encouraged him to visit the area. Mr. Anderson requested Mr. Trump's assistance with support for the new Florence-Lauderdale Public Library and Mr. Trump easily agreed. In addition to being a best selling author, Mr. Trump is known for being an avid reader and also a strong supporter of the public library system.
