Art Exhibit: Nashville Portraits
Admission charged. Mon.-Sat. 10 am-5 pm, Thurs. 10 am-8 pm & Sun. 1-5 pm at Huntsville Museum of Art, 300 Church Street. This exhibition documents many of the icons of country music, photographed over a 30-year period by one of the genre's most celebrated photographers, Jim McGuire. Included are such legends as Bill Monroe, Lester Flatt & Minnie Pearl, as well as contemporary stars like Emmylou Harris, Vince Gill & Marty Stuart. For more info, call (256) 535-4350.

Art Exhibit: When They Were Young
Admission charged. Mon.-Sat. 10 am-5 pm, Thurs. 10 am-8 pm & Sun. 1-5 pm at Huntsville Museum of Art, 300 Church Street. "Aristocratic Children in European Portraiture" depicts European children from infancy to the teens in their richest & sumptuous best. They include Louis XIII, XIV, XV & XVI, the young Edward VI of England, a teenage Charles I & other famous princes & princesses. For more info, call (256) 535-4350.

Sci-Quest's Immersive Theater
Admission charged. Tues.-Fri. 9 am-4 pm, Sat. 10 am-6 pm & Sun. 1-5 pm, Closed Monday. T Sci-Quest, 102-D Wynn Drive. "Virtual Vortex" is an interactive 3-D presentation. Facilitators will lead audiences through the formation of a thunderstorm, conditions needed for a tornado to form & how a tornado moves once on the ground. For more info, call (256) 837-0606.

New Year's Fun Runs

Galaxy Of Lights Drive-Through Extended
Admission charged. 5:30-9 pm at Huntsville Botanical Garden, 4747 Bob Wallace Avenue. Join the tradition of driving through the winter light extravaganza in the warmth of your car. Enjoy sounds of the season on the radio. No walkers allowed on these nights. For more info, call (256) 830-4447.

January 2-31
Eagle Awareness Weekend(Guntersville)
Free. Held on January 2-3, 9-10, 16-17, 23-24, 30-31 at Guntersville State Park. Enjoy fireside chats, guided interpretive programs at various Bald Eagle nesting sites, and guest speakers. Each program followed by meals in park's dining room. Hours vary. For more info, call (256) 571-5444.

January 3
Bridal Gala
Free. 11 am-2 pm at Historic Huntsville Depot Round House, 320 Church Street. If there is a wedding in your future, this is one event you don't want to miss. No pre-registration or special invitation in advance. Just show-up at the door. For more info, call (256) 881-7780.
