Handy Century Bike Ride—Florence
Fee for participants only. McFarland Park--Each year, riders saddle up and prepare to ride across three states (Alabama, Mississippi and Tenessee) as a part of the Handy Century Bike Ride, which spans more than 100 miles. The Urban Celebrity Food Festival

Training The Space Cowboys
Free. 7 pm at Huntsville Public Library Auditorium, 915 Monroe Street. In 1959 seven pilots were selected to train as America's first astronauts. These men, who had jockeyed for the best flying jobs in the military, began competing for rides on rockets & later to be the first on the moon. The Mercury 7 astronauts were the first Americans in space; they had the "Right Stuff." What did that really mean? NASA historian Ed Buckbee gives us the scoop.
