Limestone County Sheriff's Rodeo(Athens)
Admission charged. Sanctioned rodeo with bareback riding, steer wrestling, bull riding, calf roping and rodeo pageant. Fern Festival and Sale
9 a.m.-3 p.m. in Fern Glade at the Botanical Garden. A wide selection of ferns are offered for sale, ranging from native species to new and exciting hybrids. All sale ferns are hardy to the North Alabama area and can be grown as perennials in local gardens. Ferns included in this year's sale are Tassel, Japanese Painted and its hybrid relatives, the Ghost Painted and Lady in Red, Cinnamon, Parsley Leaf, Dixie Wood, Shaggy Shield, Autumn "Brilliance", Eared Lady, and both Northern and Southern Maidenhair ferns along with three varieties of spikemoss including Selaginella moellendorfii and the ever-popular Peacock moss. In addition, the sale will offer other popular fern varieties. Members of the Fern Society will be on hand to answer questions regarding the planting and growing of the different types of ferns.
