51. December 10, 2011: Candlelight Christmas Memorial

Free. 6-7 pm in Maple Hill Cemetery, 202 Maple Hill Drive Huntsville. Lighted luminaries halo the graves of the unknown Confederate Soldiers, ribbons & greenery will adorn the iron fence. An honor guard will be posted. Re-enactors will be dressed in period attire. The United Daughters of the Confederacy & the Sons of Confederate Veterans will remember the soldiers in work & song. 52. December 10, 2011: Fanning Trail, Blevins Gap, Nature Preserve Hike

Free. 9 am sponsored by Land Trust of Huntsville. This is a fast paced hike that will be a true aerobic exercise. Take Airport Road to Jones Valley, left at Four Mile Post/Cecil B. 54. December 10, 2011: Live Nativity Scene & Open House

Free. 5-8:30 pm at Holmes Street United Methodist Chruch, 501 Holmes Street Huntsville. Come to the heart of Old Town where beautiful luminaries line the streets of the community & we share in the Christmas spirit. Outside the sanctuary, visit the live Nativity & watch for the Wise Men to come from the East at 7 PM. Inside, warm up with hot chocolate, refreshments, homemade cookies & children's activities. In the sanctuary, see the beautiful poinsettia display, a 20-foot Chrismon Tree & enjoy live concert music presented every half hour. For more info, call (256) 534-7672.

56. December 10, 2011: Planetarium Program: Star of Wonder

Admission charged. Doors open at 7 PM, show begins at 7:30 at Monte Sano State Park Planetarium, beside the Country Grocery Store & Camp Ground Huntsville. OWhat exactly was the object the Wise men saw? Each year at this special time, we turn back the hands of time to look into the sky of long ago & to search for this mysterious object. As we ponder the skies of Bethlehem, we'll explore several possibilities including comets, meteors, novae & other phenomena. For more info, call (256) 539-0316.

Admission charged for train rides. 10, 11 AM & 1, 2, & 3 PM at North Alabama Railroad Museum, 694 Chase Road Huntsville. The excursions last approximately 1 hour. Reservations are suggested but walk-on's are taken on a space available basis. Ride with Santa, gifts for the children & candy canes for everyone. Take the museum's free walking tour. 59. December 10, 2011: Spirit of Christmas Past Homes Tour & Luminaries

Admission charged. 5-9 pm in Twickenham District Huntsville. The Twickenham District will be aglow with luminaries, trees & front doors glistening with holiday decorations & carolers strolling along the way.
