Free. 6-7 pm at Maple Hill Cemetery, 202 Maple Hill Drive Huntsville. Lighted luminaries halo the graves of the unknown Confederate Soldiers, ribbons & greenery will adorn the iron fence. An honor guard will be posted. Re-enactors will be dressed in period attire. The United Daughters of the Confederacy & the Sons of Confederate Veterans will remember the soldiers in work & song. The Irish Society of North Alabama and Bridge Street Town Centre proudly present “An Irish Christmas and Whiskey Tasting” on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 from 6pm-11pm at the Westin. The event benefits Still Serving Veterans, Inc. Ticket includes gourmet Irish cuisine, an Irish/Scotch whiskey tasting, and live Irish holiday music by the group Legacy featuring Jim Flanagan. Legacy is from Jackson, AL and will be performing their Christmas show “An Irish Christmas: Songs and Music from West Cork.” Other performers include local Irish group Bourbon and Shamrocks, the Irish dancers from Fitness Arts Center in Madison and the Ian Sturrock Memorial Pipe Band from Birmingham. Tickets are $75 per person or $1,000 for a sponsor table of 10.
