Day Spa Review of Center for Aesthetic Arts

Dunagan Yates & Alison's Spa Treatments

By

I was impressed with the service, products and treatments at Dunagan Yates & Alison Center for Aesthetic Arts. Everything used in the spa is top of the line and their massage therapist, LaShelle Cohn, is certified or has special training in a variety of massage therapy treatmentsmany of which are not found anywhere else in Huntsville. Her specialities include:
  • Swedish
  • Deep Tissue
  • Lumphatic Drainage
  • Neuomuscular Theraphy/Trigger Point Myofacial Release
  • Touch Therapy
  • Reflexology
  • Shiatsu
  • Fibromyalgia Massage
  • Therapeutic Raindrops
  • Pregnancy Massage
  • Cellulite Massage
  • Pregnancy Massage
  • Cellulite Massage
  • Chair Massage
  • Hot Stone Therapy

All massages are $65 an hour, and any spa treatment is only $75 an hour. Any combination of treatments can be purchased to suit your individual needs and requirements. LaChelle pointed out to me that some people call different techniques by different names so it is important to ask if you don't see what you're looking for on the menu. LaChelle can probably do whatever you need. She also shared with me a wealth of knowledge and background information on the history and benefit of massage. Finally, it was time for me to get on the table and experience what she could do with her hands.

My Massage Experience
The only bad thing I can say about my massage was that it didn't last nearly long enough--I could have stayed there all day! Some of the unique things about Dunagan Yates & Alison Spa are that the massage table is heated, there is a ceiling fan rotating above you, and the table adjusts up and down for your comfort and the therapist's. I can't remember a happier time than when I was lying there snug on the heated table listening to the ocean waves and birds chirping on the CD player, with the warm fan overhead sending gentle breezes across my bare back, and LaShelle massaging 100% pure essential oils into my skin. For a moment, I thought I was on a warm, sandy beach. It was heaven and I plan on going back soon!

Next time I think I'll try the Hot Stone Therapy. LaChelle explained to me that Hot Stone Massage is "five times more relaxing than ordinary massage" according to some recipients. The bigger the stones, the better because they retain more heat and will last longer during your massage and help penetrate your tissues better. Also, there are three kinds of stones used for Hot Stone Therapy and you should pay attention to the kind used in your massage: igneous, sedimentary or metamorphic stones. Of course, always using the best, Dunagan Yates & Alison Spa uses large metamorphic stones.
