2006 Burritt Tour of Homes

Burritt Museum Guild Highlights Homes in The Ledges

By , About.com Guide

The Burritt Museum Guild will host the fifth annual Burritt Museum Homes Tour on Saturday, September 9 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The 2006 Burritt Museum Homes Tour is sponsored by Van Valkenburgh & Wilkinson Realtors and Mercedes-Benz of Huntsville. This year, the tour moves off Monte Sano Mountain and spotlights some of the homes on Huntsville Mountain.

The 2006 tour features five exceptional homes in the exclusive gated community of The Ledges. The custom homes of David and Judy Richardson, Don and Martha Reed, Jim and Marilyn Roney, Sam and Angie Yeager, and Fred and Vicki Ziegler will be showcased. In addition our tour includes the Burritt Mansion and Meals house in Burritt’s Historic Park. Guests may stop by the Ledges Gazebo for lemonade and tea cakes served by Guild members in period dress and meet Dr. Burritt, played by Marty Siebert.

Parking for the Ledges will be available at the Target parking lot on Carl T. Jones Drive and the streets near the homes. Mercedes-Benz of Huntsville will provide transportation between the Target parking lot and the Ledges Gazebo throughout the tour. A separate shuttle will also run between the Ledges Gazebo and the Reed home during the tour.

Tickets are $18 per person ($15 for Burritt members) if purchased in advance. All tickets are $20 on the day of the tour. The admission price includes an opportunity to win a dinner for two at The Ledges. The drawing will be held at the Burritt Museum Park at 4:30 p.m. the day of the tour. The winner must be present to win. Tickets may be purchased at the Burritt Welcome Center, The Greenery, Hartlex Antique Mall, Lawren’s, Shaver’s Bookstore, and Star Market or by calling (256) 536-2882. Tickets may also be purchased at each of the featured houses on the day of the tour.

Box lunches will be served in the Trillium Room at Burritt on the Mountain from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. if purchased in advance. Lunch will include a sandwich, salad, gourmet cookie, and a beverage. The cost is $10.00 per lunch. Lunch orders must be placed by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 7 at the Burritt Welcome Center or by calling (256) 536-2882.

The Burritt Museum Store will feature discounts of 10% for guests and 20% for Museum Members, except consignment items, for gifts purchased on the day of the tour.
