28 Asbury Road (Wakefield)
Home of Deason and Libby Dunagan
With its arched front porch roof, asymmetrical roof lines, and quarter round windows, this six bedroom home is reminiscent of California mission architecture, but is actually a combination of several architectural styles. The Dunagans, who have lived in Wakefield for 21 years, bought the house from its original owners six years ago and have done a good bit of remodeling. Updates include the addition of glazed maple cabinets, stainless steel appliances, and granite countertops to the kitchen, replacing the wooden spindles on the stair and balcony rails with wrought iron, and installing a stained glass window in the master bath. Chandeliers throughout the home were salvaged from a demolished Chicago theater, and the dining room is furnished with antique Chinese Chippendale furniture. The den and study are paneled in oak, and much of the downstairs flooring is tile, essential since the family has four dogs. The home and pool afford a spectacular view of Jones Valley.
