In the renovation process, almost every existing interior wall was removed and replaced by square columns. The addition included a 20x35 foot space with a vaulted ceiling and five picture windows that overlook the patio gardens and koi ponds. In the new space, the kitchen is paired with a Keeping Room and fireplace. You can now stand in the kitchen and look into every major room on the ground floor.
Tina's kitchen has to be functional, but also striking and fun. Over 50 linear feet of granite countertop provides plenty of room to prep and serve. These include three main counters, an eating bar, butlers pantry, desk, and wet bar. Light travertine tile floors and tumbled travertine backsplashes on the counters add interest. The custom cabinetry is stained with a coffee glaze and has raised panel doors. Door hardware and faucetry have an oil-rubbed bronze finish to accent the copper sink and vent hood. Hidden double doors open into a walk-in pantry. There's a commercial gas range, a built-in convection oven, and microwave plus Kitchen-Aide appliances that are fitted with raised panel fronts that match the cabinetry. Tinas favorite feature is her Fish Sink--an undermounted copper sink hand tooled with three koi fish.
