The Tuscan feel with rich, warm hues of gold and brown provide a casual feeling. Rough plaster faux stained walls add to the comfortable atmosphere. Stained wooden beams accent the cathedral ceiling by day with carefully directed lighting accenting the counters by night.
The large island with the Thermador gas cook top is the center of the work space for the cooks and a popular spot for guests to climb up on a stool and watch. The counters are done in multi-tonal flowing granite with geode-like inclusions. The interesting granite, tumbled marble tiles and brushed nickel faucets all seem to complement the cherry cabinets.
Several features accommodate the chief cooks troubled back. The dishwasher is installed 8 inches from the floor level to minimize bending. Deep, wide drawers under the counters provide easy access to cooking utensils. The faucet on the island sink makes clean-up easy. Breakfast at the corner bistro table has a real "in-the-tree-top" feeling with the river birch canopy immediately outside the windows. The view below is onto an herb garden, then down to a bird feeding area and on out the lake shore.
The kitchen is open to the dining and living spaces creating a good, friendly flow. The dining table location allows for a lovely view of Lady Ann Lake. A small, cozy living area is tucked into the corner.
