412 Randolph Avenue - Berry Home

This American foursquare style home was built as a duplex in 1936 by Mattie Lee Strong Watkins (Mrs. James Albert Watkins, Jr.) in order to provide her with with additional income. She was Guy J. Spencer, Jr.'s aunt. Mrs. Watkins was a widow when she had the house built. Mr. Watkins had been a co-owner of the Crystal Drug Company, which was on the corner of Clinton and Jefferson where the parking garage is now.

The duplex had several owners until 1999, when it was purchased by Lynne Berry. Mr. Berry relocated the stairway and turned the house into a single-family dwelling.
