Proceeds Benefit Weeden House Museum

The Weeden House Museum, a house museum, built in 1819, and located at 300 Gates Avenue, is the elegant Federal period house in which Maria Howard Weeden, noted famed artist and poetess was born and died. It is owned by the City of Huntsville and leased by the THPDA. This house has been on the tour each year and yet another tradition continues. The Huntsville Garden Club, the oldest garden club in Huntsville, has provided decorations for each holiday season since 1981 when it opened as a house museum. The entry hall, with Adamesque curves in its fanlight and its magnificent freestanding stairway are beautifully decorated. Fresh greenery, fruit and berries are used throughout the parlors and dining room. In the parlor stands a beautiful Christmas tree decorated with porcelain angels that have been beautifully dressed by Mrs. Mary Beirne Cook, one of the members.
