The U.S. Space & Rocket Center, formerly the Alabama Space & Rocket Center, opened in March of 1970. It was the brainchild of Dr. Wernher von Braun who, back in the 1960's, approached local leaders with the idea of creating a museum for what were to become the artifacts of the space program.

The Alabama Music Hall of Fame, located in Tuscumbia, opened July 26, 1990. The 12,500 square foot exhibit hall is filled with information, memorabilia and recordings from musicians from Alabama. Playwright Jeff Robertson brings Theatre Huntsville's first-ever original production to the VBC Playhouse stage, "The Trial of Frank James." This play is a depiction of Huntsville's O.J. Simpson-style "Trial of the Century."

I grew up in Huntsville during the 60's when the space program was at it's height. As a teenager, I wasn't very interested in what was going on outside my own little world. I really enjoyed really the complete story of Werhner von Braun so I could relive some of the historic events, learn new things about Von Braun and find out how it all ended for him.

If you think that Sci-Quest is just for the kids, think again. Every time I've been there, the adults are busy trying all the fun experiments and demostrations. Sci-Quest makes learning about gravity, the human body, magnets, bubbles, etc. fun, fun, fun! Here's some photos I've taken off and on during my visits.
