EGYPT at the FRIST The Quest for Immortality: Treasures of Ancient Egypt
Visitors 18 and Younger Admitted Free of Charge
Highlights include:

Gold and jeweled artifacts from the royal tombs at Tanis from the 21st and 22nd Dynasties

An eight-foot-long ancient wooden model of the river boat that was believed to carry pharaohs into the afterlife
·
An intricately adorned life-size replica of the burial chamber of the New Kingdom pharaoh Thutmose III, ruler of Egypt in the 18th Dynasty
·
Tickets for The Quest for Immortality: Treasures of Ancient Egypt are on sale now. Admission is free for visitors 18 and younger, but tickets are required. Tickets can be purchased at the Frist Center Admissions desk (without any surcharges), on our special website:

Show me the Mummy!
Quest will become part of the fabric of Nashville's Summer of 2006 -folks will see signs of Egypt throughout the community as the Frist Center's Mummy makes special appearances all over the city! Everyone has a chance to learn more about ancient Egypt through lectures, films and family activities -not only at the Frist Center - at the Belcourt Theatre, Nashville Public Library, Downtown Presbyterian Church and other Nashville locales.

Each weeklong, in-depth and age appropriate art sessions are designed to encourage art making while stimulating art appreciation, interpretation, artistic expression, and imagination. Campers have the opportunity to view the exhibition, The Quest for Immortality: Treasures of Ancient Egypt .

On Thursday evenings, the Frist Center presents free music in the Grand Lobby. Cash bars and bistro seating are offered, so visitors can relax, enjoy a variety of beverages and listen to some of Nashville's finest faculty and student musicians. Mario DaSilva performs a versatile array of music, ranging from classic rock to pop favorites.

On Friday evenings, the Frist Center presents free music in the Grand Lobby. Cash bars and bistro seating are offered, so visitors can relax, enjoy a variety of wines and other beverages and listen to music by guitarist Wayne Avers.

Testament: The Bible and History
(1955) covers the development and historical context of the Old Testament stories, from the civilizations of Egypt and Mesopotamia. Ken Locke, Downtown Presbyterian Church minister, will introduce the movie. (USA, 1989, 52 minutes)

On Thursday evenings, the Frist Center presents free music in the Grand Lobby. Cash bars and bistro seating are offered, so visitors can relax, enjoy a variety of beverages and listen to some of Nashville's finest faculty and student musicians. This Thursday, the Nashville Philharmonic Flute Ensemble will entertain visitors.
