Take a late-night, docent-guided flashlight tour through The Quest for Immortality: Treasures of Ancient Egypt exhibition. Following the tour, patrons will meet at the Turner Courtyard tent to view the 1932 original movie, The Mummy, with Boris Karloff. Karloff stars as the condemned and mummified Egyptian prince Im-Ho-Tep accidentally brought back to life. Stunning cinematography and gripping performances make this film a classic. Free popcorn and a cash bar will be available.

Kids Club offers exciting opportunities for children to discover, explore, and create art. Free membership includes a Kids Club card, art classes, and additional rewards for participation. This special Kids Club features a storytime session related to The Quest for Immortality: Treasures of Ancient Egypt . Inspired by the story, kids can create one-of-a-kind cartouche images on papyrus.

The Frist Center partners with Nashville Zoo at Grassmere to present a program about creatures - such as snakes, birds, frogs, exotic dogs and cats - and their role in ancient Egyptian iconography. The Nashville Zoo will bring some of these animals to the Courtyard, allowing visitors to learn about the believed powers and symbolism of animals.

Tuesday, July 18 Frist Films: The Land
7:00 p.m.

Cost: $5.00 Frist members and Belcourt Theatre members/$7.75 non-members

In this epic film, director Youssef Chahine explores the themes of oppression and social hierarchy that have made him a famous Egyptian film auteur. Set in the small village countryside along the Nile, The Land chronicles cotton-growers struggling with the government expropriation of their land in 1933. The film's pastoral beauty brilliantly complements its interwoven characters and timeless story. A poll of Egyptian critics named this the best Egyptian film ever made. (Youssef Chahine, Egypt, 1969, 130 minutes)
Thursday, July 20 Music in the Grand Lobby: 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Robert Thompson Free

On Thursday evenings, the Frist Center presents free music in the Grand Lobby. Cash bars are offered, so visitors can relax, enjoy a variety of beverages and listen to music by guitarist Robert Thompson.
Friday, July 21 Music in the Grand Lobby: 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. The McClains with Lisa Manning

On Friday evenings, the Frist Center presents free music in the Grand Lobby. Cash bars are offered, so visitors enjoy a variety of wines and beverages and listen to the bluegrass trio, The McClains with Lisa Manning.

Cyma Rubin, curator of The Pulitzer Prize Photographs: Capture the Moment , will discuss the many untold stories behind these award-winning photographs.

Dr. Peter J. Brand, Assistant Professor of History at the University of Memphis, who teaches at the Institute of Egyptian Art and Archeology, explores the political function of gold at the height of Egypt's power and influence, including where gold came from, and how it was used to enhance the king's power and prestige among the gods, the people and foreign lands.
