THINGS I LEARNED THIS WEEK:

• K & K Avon, a licensed Avon Beauty Center, recently opened in Parkway Place Mall. It is the first Avon Store in North Alabama.
• Looking at college costs? Grants, loans and work-study are the three major forms of aid available through the Federal Student Aid office. "The Student Guide" tells you about the programs and how to apply for them. It is available free online or call (800) 433-3243 to have it mailed to you.
• The Pantry Inc. recently bought the Cowboys Convenience Stores in Alabama.
• The $2 million feature film "When I Find the Ocean" starring Louis Gossett Jr., Naomi Judd, and Richard Tyson will be shot in the Shoals, Selma and the Gulf Coast and takes place in 1965 Alabama.
• Travelling during spring break? Check flight status, weather, and the latest airport news at Flyhuntsville.com.
• United Cerebral Palsy of Huntsville needs wide-based push toys for toddlers who need a little support for walking. They do not need baby walkers, but the kind of toys that the child walks behind and pushes. Donations are tax deductible.
