Tips for Week of August 18, 2005
- The Second Annual Saturn/Apollo Reunion is Saturday, August 27 at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wally Schirra will be the special guest. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for children 3-12. For more info, call (256) 271-7101 or saturnv@spacecamp.com.
- Cooking with the Village People is a Rison-Dallas Association cookbook to be published in the spring/summer 2006. Rison was a school and Dallas was the mill and village in NE Huntsville. If you belonged to either during the Rison-Dallas era, or if you lived in any cotton mill community and would like to participate in the cookbook, please submit your recipes/menus by October 1st to risondallas@bellsouth.net.
- If you get some suspicious-looking email that says it's from Ebay or PayPal, forward the email to spoof@ebay.com and then delete from you computer. Never click on the link. I've added the email address to my address book so I don't have to keep looking it up!
- I know I've had my problems with Huntsville Hospital's ER, but last week when my husband had some tests done in the hospital, I got a pleasant surprise: while waiting in line to pick him up, one of the valets starting washing my windshield! I was totally shocked. He said they do that to show the hospital cares (how about straightening out your ER?) and used to even vacuum the cars, but people complained. They aren't allowed to take tips and he did refuse to wash my whole car...but I thought it was worth a shot!
