Burritt on the Mountain

Burritt on the Mountain was the first museum in Huntsville. In 1955, when Dr. William Henry Burritt died, he left his unique home to the city of Huntsville. The mansion is built in the shape of a cross and the walls are insulated with hay. There are 167 acres that surround the mansion, a historic park with log cabins and houses from the 19th century, farm animals and a historic garden. There is also a gift shop and four hiking trails.
