This handsome raised cottage house, located in Twickenham Historic District, was built in 1924 by Shelby White on a section of family property, choosing the Greek Revival style. The side porch provides balance, but is more characteristic of 20th century architecture.
After the death of Mrs. White, Dr. and Mrs. Joe Akin purchased the property, but sold it to Mr. and Mrs. James Hays in the late 1970s. The Hays undertook extensive renovations and of special interest is the duplicate façade of the main house located in the garden. Mr. Hays used this for a workshop. Mr. & Mrs. Bruce Park bought the house in 2001 but swapped homes with her parents, Butch and Jerry Damson who have completed several structural changes by adding a garage door, enclosing a breezeway and converting the garden workshop into an office.
