The Derivauxs chose cherry painted cabinetry with a brown glaze and a soft rub-thru to create a warm, casual feeling. The cabinetry features inset doors with French carving details and glass doors with arched mullions. The large center island creates ample work space for food preparation, including a warming drawer microwave and aged copper sink. There is space for a couple of French-style bar stools for a quick snack, homework, or a chat with the cook. There are matching cabinetry panels for the refrigerator, dishwasher, and icemaker and a wooden hood integrated into the kitchen with the formal dining room. The rooms' wall color contrasts tones in both the cabinetry and the Copper Canyon granite countertops. The stone tile backsplash features a French scroll panel over the cook top.
Brazilian cherry hardwood floors are used throughout, creating a warm contrast to the painted surfaces. A desk area just off of the kitchen gives the owner a private spot away from the activity of the kitchen for the telephone, mail, and organizing for a busy family.
All of the planning has worked and the Derivauxs enjoy a pretty, functional home for their family.
