There are many great opportunities for hiking in the Huntsville area and Bob Goodwin shares with us his discoveries as an avid local hiker. Hiking destinations include Huntsville itself, the surrounding counties, and other areas within 70 miles or so. There are jewels right here, such as Monte Sano State Park, all of the Land Trust properties, the greenways and other places. There are also a myriad of opportunities not that far away in some of the other state parks and in Tennessee.
During a recent Earth Day at the Hays Preserve, Bob manned a table for the Tennessee Trails Association and had the opportunity to talk to about 90 people about hiking in the Huntsville area. Most knew about Monte Sano State Park and the Madison County Nature trail. However, little was known about other properties and opportunities that lay not that far away in Tennessee. There were also some questions about who sponsors the hikes in the area. Here is photos and information on hiking.
