Race Benefits Blount Hospitality House

By , About.com Guide

Each year in December, the Huntsville Track Club organizes over 700 runners who participate in the "Rudolph Run" to benefit Blount Hospitality House at 610 Madison Street in Huntsville.

The Blount Hospitality House provides lodging for out-of-town relatives of patients in Huntsville area hospitals. Those who wish to stay at the House must live outside Huntsville and must be referred by a hospital social worker or nurse.

The Blount Hospitality House was the first hospitality house in the state of Alabama. It opened 1980 as The Hospital Hospitality House. The present House, now called the Blount Hospitality House, was completed in 1988 and is named after the first Executive Director. In the last 20 years, the House has served over 20,000 guests from 58 Alabama counties, 44 other states, and 13 foreign countries.
