The U. S. Space & Rocket Center celebrated the 25th Anniversary of Space Camp by installing eight members into the newly created Space Camp Hall of Fame. The first inductee was father of the space program, Dr. Wernher von Braun, with Huntsville Astronaut Jan Davis, accepting the award on behalf of the von Braun family.
Star Trek favorite, William Shatner, emceed the event and seem visibly moved by the testimonies of astronauts, space camp counselors and space camp attendees during the course of the evening. Everyone poured out their passion & dreams for space and how space camp changed their lives. Most touching was Dan Oates testimony of his experience with the space camp program that welcomes blind and visually-impaired campers to learn more about space in an environment where they can thrive and feel "normal."
