This kitchen begins with beautiful sage green custom cabinets made by Randy Carlin of Carlin Cabinets, and glazed on-site with a dark chocolate color by Ricky Sauls. A lovely sagebrush granite crowns the counter tops. There are two large islands, a work island and one for cleanup. The large hutch housing the dishes reminds the Barnes of their childhood days. The kitchen is equipped with wonderful appliances including a 60 inch Wolf range with a stunning onyx back splash, Wolf microwave, Sub-Zero freezer, Sub-Zero refrigerator, Bosch dishwasher and a Scotsman ice maker. Just outside the kitchen stands a small butler's pantry with a black rubbed finish that coordinates with the two islands in the kitchen. This was designed to display the antique Haviland china originally belonging to Trixie Kennamer, Kathy Barnes' grandmother. Kathy inherited this china when her own mother, Kathleen Tyson, passed away in March 2005.
In the breakfast room as well as the living room, a fabulous collection of Albert Lane antique prints of Huntsville homes and churches in the Twickenham District are displayed. Be sure to see the "locker room" and large walk-in pantry just off the kitchen. Featured throughtout the house are two inch Hunter Douglass wood blinds with an espresso stain. Each room uses a different color tapes. In the breakfast room and hearth room a wine colored tape was used to coordinate with the sofas. Inline Lighting provided the lighting. The adorable rooster chandelier over the breakfast table is a Tracey Porter design for Savoy House Lighting and the stunning chandelier in the hearth room is a Fine Arts product as are the chandeliers in the foyer and dining room.
