2008 Kitchens For CASA

When Matt and Julie Fowler's daughters were approaching high school age, the family decided they needed a larger home to entertain their growing groups of friends. After hearing about Jones Valley from family friend Christine Petroff, the family decided it was the ideal location for their new dream house. The house, though, need some work. Inside, they renovated the kitchen and wet bar. The new focus of the kitchen is the sink created from layers of travertine used to make the counters in the new wine bar downstairs. In the wet bar, the Fowlers added a copper and tiles, custom cabinetry, slate countertops and an icemaker. Ceramic Harmony produced all of the tile and countertops. Renaissance Woodworking made the cabinetry. Downstairs a laundry room became a wine bar with a seamless travertine sink and countertops combined with muted blue of the cabinets. A full size Sub-Zero wine cooler is the focus of the room. By also adding a one drawer Fisher and Paykel refrigerator, the Fowlers ensured this part of the home would be very well used. Upstairs, Beverly Fairington and Albert Ordway along with Ceramic Harmony and Christopher Cabinets collaborated to combine the old master bedroom, a separate Husband's bath and an upstairs study into a plush spa-like master suite. Builders removed walls separating the three rooms and replaced them with arches and custom arched picket doors. In place of the old bath, the Fowlers added a coffee bar with glass tile countertop, glass vessel sink and a Capressa automatic coffee/espresso machine. Another addition is an upstairs "Parent's Den" where Matt and Julie retreat from the teenagers in place of an old study.
