The Murray's love of English architecture inspired the construction of this home. The Murray's goal was to create a home with character and elegance while remaining comfortable and welcoming. The highlight of this Tudor home is the kitchen. The beautiful mahogany wood cabinetry, supplied by Brenda Barton of Kitchen Gallery, was custom made in Pennsylvania. The inset cabinet doors and satin finish replicate antique cabinetry befitting an old country home. The spacious kitchen layout was designed to accommodate a yellow Labrador who loves to lie in the middle of the workspace. Can anyone relate? The long raised granite counter allows many people to gather in the kitchen without crowding the food preparation area and works extremely well for entertaining. Although the floor looks like limestone, it is actually a non-porous porcelain tile that is maintenance free, which is great for messy cooks! The vent hood above the cook top was textured and faux painted by Ricky Sauls, who also glazed the gothic stone fireplace mantle in the living room. The cook top vent motor has been mounted on the exterior of the home to reduce noise in the kitchen. The heart pine ceiling beams and corbels through out the home were custom made by the builder, Kim Mason of Kim Mason Homes, which add a slightly rustic feel to the home. The rear of the house was designed with many casement windows to take advantage of the wooded views, and the ‘U’ shaped house maintains privacy on the back patio. The screened porch is set away from the house to let more light into the keeping room and also to improve airflow in the screened porch. Hope you felt welcomed during your tour!
